A Bit of DEL REY history

Del Rey RFC was started in 2001 when a group of Kentwood old boys and some current got together to honor the then leaving coach Rex Norris. They called themselves Delres because the actual spelling of Rex Norris' middle name is Delre. The boys lost the first game but made a triumphant comeback through the losers bracket to win the tourney in the final minutes. The next couple summer seasons some of the boys got back together to continue the team and the spelling changed to Delrey. A set of jerseys were purchased and bone roman numerals were put on the back for numbers. The team went on to make a name for themselves. A few years later the team name changed again to Del Rey. Three years after the first tournament the team went on to win the Can-Am Summer Sevens tournament. They repeated a couple years after, both in the social division. And actually in one tournament were forced to play in the competitive division, which at this tourney is QUITE competitive, and took third. After the second Can-Am tournament win talk of becoming a 15's side started. These talks continued for a further three years. So after 7 tournament wins, several seconds and thirds, and a total of 8 years as a 7's club, Del Rey 15's is born.

Mission Statement
The founders of Del Rey 15's have decided that creating a rugby club is only the beginning. This club is going to strive to be a contributing member of society. To not only be known in the rugby world as a high quality club, but to be known in society as a wonderful contributor to local charities and an inspiration to the kids that this club will visit at the local boys and girls clubs.
